paul wilson magicfest real hustleAn Evening With Paul Wilson

29th June 2011

Paul Wilson, from BBC Real Hustle, has just announced two unprogrammed shows as part of MagicFest.  Each audience will consist of no more than 20 people, all round a table, as close to the action as you can get.

There are only 40 tickets available and once they're gone, there will be no more shows organised.  If you're a fan of the Real Hustle, then this is an opportunity not to be missed.

Tickets are available from Hub Tickets on 0131 473 2000

This is the opportunity to spend an hour with Paul Wilson, where he will share some of his favourite mysteries and perform his favourite miracles in an intimate and informal setting.

This is about spending time together and sharing some wondeful, amazing and incredible effects.  It's as much a gathering of new friends as it is a show.  Part show - part conversation.  It's the art of deception in it's purest form - there's nowhere to hide!

Is it ALL card tricks?  No, but cards are Paul's first love.  Tricks are for kids - these are the result of 30 years searching for the impossible.

Are there cons and scams?  Of course - that's who he is.  Everything Paul does is a scam, one way or another....

This is a performer sitting down with his audience and sharing his art in the most personal and direct way he can."

This event has limited unreserved seating and, as such, some bookers will have to stand.

MagicFest in the Press

26th June 2011

In the final lead up to MagicFest 2011, there has been a flurry of media interest in the festival.  Today, the Scotland on Sunday did a feature on the festival in its 'Review' section.  Festival Director Kevin McMahon talks about his vision for the festival as well as Jav Jarquin talking about his show Card Ninja.  Card Ninja is an exciting combination of storytelling comedy and stunning card stunts on at the Stand Comedy Club.  Definitely not to be missed.

The Herald featured a 7 page special on MagicFest and several of the acts on saturday.  Thanks Herald!

MagicFest Awarded Arts and Business Grant

7th June 2011

We are delighted to announce that The Edinburgh International Magic Festival has been awarded an Arts & Business Grant to develop its relationships with sponsors Bedlam Paintball and Tree of Knowledge.

The aim of the scheme is to build private sector sponsorship of the arts and match £1 for £1 funding for new arts sponsors.

Kevin McMahon, director of MagicFest, said: "The Arts and Business Grant is vital to the success of MagicFest this year. It's great that the Scottish Government is supporting fledgling arts organisations like MagicFest by encouraging strong business relationships.

"We really want to develop these relationships and build new partnerships in order to create more exciting formats and shows."
