MagicFest 2013 Programme Announced

"Clandestine Laboratories, Secret Rooms, Magic Master Classes and a Wonderland themed Magic Dinner are some of the new events being launched for MagicFest 2013! Performers from all around the world will soon be arriving in Edinburgh to deliver breath-taking illusions and awe inspiring magic as part of the most awesome magic event in the world.

Enjoy a surreal, magical world between fact and fiction and have fun this year at the fourth Edinburgh International Magic Festival.

MagicFest Performers at the Globe Theatre, London for Shakespeare's Birthday Celebrations

A letter from the Globe:

"To celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday here at the Globe theatre on the 21st April we were delighted that Kevin McMahon, Artistic Director of the Edinburgh Magic Festival and Gary James, past President of the Edinburgh Magic Circle and MagicFest Magic Workshop Headmaster were able to perform for the 6,000 members of the public that came through the Globe doors.

Gary James delighted hundreds of children (and adults) with his Magic Workshop which was one of the most popular events of the day, whilst Kevin McMahon performed on the main Globe stage in front of every member of the public that came through the Globe that day to rapturous applause and laughter.

We were honoured that they could both come and perform at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London. "

Tickets for MagicFest Gala are now on sale (9th January), available from hub tickets. Click here for more information and booking or call the ticket hotline on 0131 473 2000. The 2013 Gala show was a sell out so make sure you don't miss out.

Tickets can be purchased at 10% discount till the end of January if you quote discount code MAGIC2013 when booking online or on the phone.

The full programme along with Gala Show line up will be launched in April 2013.

2013 MagicFest Dates Announced!

We're delighted to announce that the fourth Edinburgh International Magic Festival will take place from the 28th June - 5th July 2013. The Festival will open with the Gala show on the 28th June at the Royal Lyceum Theatre.

Many favourites will return such as Magic School and Magic Dinner. The full programme will be launched in April 2013.

SMASHED! The Guiness World Record for the BIGGEST ever Magic Lessson

"Delighted to say that we smashed the Guinness World Record for the BIGGEST ever magic lesson last night (27th October 2012) at Fettes College in Edinburgh; the building that inspired JK Rowling's vision for Hogwarts. A very fitting venue.

Massive thanks to all the performers, volunteers, staff, friends and all 1500 audience members that turned up to break the world record in wintery conditions. Massive achievement. Well done to all involved especially to all at Royal Blind Charity who did a fantastic job organising the event."

Guiness World Record Attempt!!

18th October 2012

MagicFest, in association with Royal Blind Charity, is attempting to smash the World Record for the Biggest Ever Magic Lesson! Here in Edinburgh, in the grounds of Fettes College, over 1500 people are getting together to learn a magic trick as part of the annual 'Glow in the Park' event on the 27th October.

Artistic Director of the Magic Festival, invited to give the lesson said:

"I'm so excited to be taking part in such a historic event. MagicFest loves to share the fascinating world of magic with people, and this event will have over 1500 people at it! I really hope that we smash the world record and every one comes away with a new magic trick they can show their friends and family afterwards."

Kevin will be joined by Magic School Head teacher Gary James, Comedy Magic Sketch group the Colour Ham and also magician Ricky McLeod.

The event has now reached total capacity and no more tickets are available.

It's been over 2 months now since MagicFest ended, and we wanted to say a massive thank you our audience, performers, volunteers, sponosrs and supporters for helping make the 2012 Festival the most successful yet. Dates for next year are 28th June - 6th July 2013.

Many performers travelled straight down to Blackpool for FISM (Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magique) kind of like an olympics of magic. Michael Neto was part of the close up magic competition and performed very well against a world class line up of sleight of hand experts.

Other performers such as Voronin, and Le Chapeaux Blancs were also performing at FISM as well as past MagicFest performers such as Dion and The Great Nardini.
